United Arab Emirates
Fujairah
Going to Fujairah. The place is mountainous . The mountains are solid rock and from a distance appear a mixture of dark Grey and black .There is very little vegetation on these mountains. |
The veiw is very scenic. The color of the mountains has changed to Brown now. We first went on a wrong route, now going towards Fujairah waterfalls from a much longer route. Happy, since we could enjoy such beautiful drive. |

Mansi & her friend Ann stand beside the car with Kuku en route to Fujairah. Just took a short break here . |
The board shows the sign for Fujairah, still many kms away |
Ann standing beside the board showing we are near our destination now, only 19 more Kms to go....Notice "Al" in front of every name on the board. This is seen everywhere in UAE.For example- in front of the names of local people, places, things..."Al" means "the", in Arabic. |

A jet passed leaving a trail of smoke which is visible in the sky. We are now nearing Masafi, a place where there is abundant natural water. The water is bottled and supplied all over UAE. |
Masafi market. A part of Fujairah. We reached there and stopped to have fresh coconut water.
Also available are charcoal roasted corn on the cobs, cold drinks, fruit
juices, tea, coffee etc.You see a plants' nursery in the background. Also visible is a shop selling
carpets. There are rows of such carpets, fruits, vegetables, earthen
flower pots etc selling shops. The flag you see on the pole is the national flag of UAE. Every emirate of the UAE is getting decked up for their 32nd National Day celebrations, which is on 2nd of Dec. On this day, all the seven emirates united together and formed the United Arab Emirates under the Presidentship of Sheikh Zayed, the ruler of Abu Dhabi. Abu Dhabi is the capital of UAE. |

Mansi & Ann in Masafi market. Ann has given her coconut to scoop out the fresh "garee" while Mansi is still having her water, thus holding her coconut. |
Many fresh fruits' shops visible on the other side of the road in the Masafi market. Similar shops are this side too. The market looks like a small village kind of market, craddled between mountains. |

This is "Khor Fakkan", a place in Fujairah which is famous for its beautiful beach. The large beach area is ensconced between mountains on two sides and the ocean here is Indian Ocean. Gita & Mansi standing towards the side where there are oil rigs too visible in the ocean, not very far off from this beach. |

Gita & Ann now showing the other side of the mountains of Khor Fakkan beach. We took a Coffee break here, before proceeding towards waterfalls. |
This is the path leading to the said waterfalls....!! We covered this distance on foot, to reach the waterfalls, after parking the car at the entrance of this approach road made of pebbles . This can only be traversed with a 4 wheel drive, otherwise. It took us 1 hour of such gruelling walk to reach the waterfalls...... |
Kuku standing at the waterfalls ( white cap), while Mansi and Ann are visible on the extreme left side, farther away. People bathing in the waters. This is puposely clicked from a distance to give the idea of the place. The flowing water enters the ground near the grass on the left side and is not visible where it goes......Picnic crowds' irresponsible fire has gutted one such lush green grass plant, visible towards the right side of the photo in the foreground. |

Mansi standing at the base of the falls. The concept of waterfalls that we all had in our minds was quite different than what we saw ultimately...!!! You can barely make out the thin white streak of water in the center, above, amidst the dark spot in this photo..., though it was somewhat like a thick stream of water falling with some slight roaring sound when you actually see it. Such pathetic small waterfall..? We were all disappointed, specially after such labourious , tiring walk. But, for the experience of it and also at our such enthusiasm till we actually saw it...we could not hold our laughter and one by one burst out laughing!!!!! See, how Mansi is trying hard to with-hold her laughter..???? |

Gita thought let her also get clicked beside the much publicised water for the records..... |
All three of them trying to figure out why people travel such distances for THIS..????? OK, the drive was fun, the concept is great too, that of a water fall in a desert....but THIS..? |

Ann & Gita on the opposite side of the waterfalls, where water enters the ground and disappears. |

Ann , Gita & Kuku now returning from waterfall. Standing at the base of a very steep mountain. Feels like a mammoth wall. |
Mansi and Ann had still so much energy left with them that on our way back from waterfalls, they planned to climb the adjoining mountains.... |
They are still climbing. This is taken with zoom. we are catching our breath at the foot of the mountain they chose to climb. Kuku was complaining that now his feet were killing him. I being the most ill-equipped in my Thongs, was already silently bearing the brunt of the dis-balancing pebbles....So decided, the less said the better....... |
They climbed pretty high. This is taken with zoom. |
Mansi sitting on a tree, a little way up. |
A lone tree getting company of a shrub. Clicked this earlier, when we were back on track after the wrong route to Fujairah. |
Sunset time...Sun going behind the mountains. We are waiting for Mansi and Ann to climb down from the mountain....they are on the mountain (not visible here), on the right side of the grass. |
Sun
sets, while we are still waiting for them to climb down.... This day was Mansi's Birthday, and she wanted to celebrate and spend it like this, outdoors, with her best friend Ann . Since it co-incided with Id holiday this year, we could make it possible for her....
After this , since it became dark very rapidly, we decided against doing our cooking here. The mountainous road had no street lights and it would not be safe to drive such snaky narrow road in dark. So, we drove down to Fujairah's beach (not Khor Fakkan). We had seen it while coming. It had concrete umbrellas and benches etc and was not overcrowded like the famous Khor fakkan one.... We did barbeque party there on the beach- lit our fire , did our cooking & grilling and then we all ate and enjoyed some more after a full, eventful , very enjoyable day...then started back home, on the correct route this time.... |
Hope you enjoyed the Photographs of Fujairah
